Last updated May 6, 2008
The Shelter is open to the public 7 days a week from 12:00 to 6:00 Monday thru Saturday, 1:00 to 5:00 on Sunday with some Holiday exceptions.
Please note that the selection of cats available for adoption changes on a daily basis.
- Write down the pet identification number for reference.
- If the particular pet you are interested in already has a new home, please stop to visit the shelter as new cats are ready to be moved into adoptions on a daily basis.
- The Shelter always has a great selection of companions, and the perfect one is probably waiting just for you.
- The Shelter can not "hold" any animal, it is strictly on a first come first serve basis.
- While this site is updated as often as possible, please contact the shelter at (336) 297-5020 to confirm the availability of the pet you are interested in, or you
can email the Shelter. - Please refer to the intake number when inquiring about a particular animal.
- Cat adoptions are $80 and all cat adoptions include: a full body check, initial vaccinations, a rabies vaccination, feline leukemia test, flea treatment, deworming if needed, a microchip, spay or neuter services and 1 month of free pet insurance. Thanks to the grant from Bayer HealthCare, we also provide a training CD for your newly adopted cat or dog.
Please remember to spay or neuter your pets.
Together we can prevent euthanasia by preventing surplus births.
Didn't see the "purr-fect" cat for you?
If after a visit to the shelter you don't see the new friend you have been looking for, you can stop at the customer service desk and complete the "Perfect Pet" form, or by calling 336-297-5020. When a match is coming up for adoption you could get the call with the option to adopt.
When you visit the shelter, if you don't see the pet you were interested in, please inquire at the front desk. Sometimes they have just been moved to another area of the shelter.
SPRING, it is that time of year once again when we desperately need FOSTER PARENTS for kittens and puppies. It is a short-term commitment, usually only 2-8 weeks with medical care provided by the shelter.
Is your next "best friend" waiting here?

Just like people, our adult, mature or senior felines need your loving affection and attention. They can bring you so much devotion and companionship.
Unfortunately, the health of her previous owner was failing, and Angel (ID #4633134) had to be surrendered. She just wants to explore far enough to find a quiet comfortable corner to cat nap in and come and go as she pleases. After 12 years, Angel is going to get the relief of being spayed. Does your heart expand far enough to include this Angel? She could end up being your Angel too!
Despite that intense look, Dharma is friendly, loving, inquisitive and curious and will come to explore who is at the door. She was brought to the shelter by Animal Control. Roll n roll…..probably not for this Elvis. Roll maybe, onto a nice soft lap or bed for his nap! His cleft lip would not help a singing career either, but it doesn’t seem to bother him. Elvis is a 5 year old orange tabby that has been neutered. ID #3863579.

He is black and white with yellow eyes and is hopeful for a nice quiet sanctuary where he can roam and nap at will, without the worry of another animal coming to pounce on him.
Butch is confident and a bit nosy; he likes to check out what is going on outside his door. He is friendly and curious about it, not antagonistic at all. Butch is a 3 year old black and white tuxedo boy that was brought to us by Animal Control. Butch has been neutered and is hopeful that a new kind companion will bring him home with them. Just ask for ID #4018234.
She is friendly and would dearly love to come right out and get some attention. Soopy (ID #4127146) sits hopeful after I wouldn’t let her get down. She is lovely in her black and white tuxedo and a white strip down the bridge of her nose. She is just over 1 ½ years old and Soopy has been spayed since coming to the shelter by way of an Animal Control officer. Don’t leave Soopy stewing, she deserves your loving care.
Sarah (ID #4201992) was surrendered to the shelter, but no reason was given. She is a content and laid back girl who just wants some love and gentle petting. Sarah is only 1 ½ years old and she has been spayed as part of her adoption fee. Don’t you have a warm lap that this girl would love to sit on?
Thanks to Animal Control, Rose (ID #4184865) is safe now. She is a lovely grey and beige tortoiseshell that is about 2 years old and is spayed. She has just come into adoptions and is a wee bit hesitant, but once she is comfortable she becomes friendly and loving. Rose may just make a nice soft lap warmer for you once she trusts you.
Sparkles (ID #4268926) was enjoying herself with the toy! She has a lighthearted and playful nature that can’t help but shine through. This black and white girl was another feline that was fortunate to be found by Animal Control. She is about 4 years old and will be grateful when the surgeon gets her spayed soon. Let Sparkle add a little dazzle to your life, bring her home with you.
Lucky Stripe’s (ID #4222131) previous owner felt they had to surrender him because they travel so much that is wasn’t fair to Lucky Stripe. He is a confident orange tabby that is about 3 years old. He is calm and lackadaisical, not too quick to do much of anything if he doesn’t have the inspiration to. Lucky Stripe will no longer be interested in adding to the pet population, as he has been neutered. He will be an unobtrusive but contented addition to your home.
Dr. Who (ID #4276048) was not fooled by a fake fish on the string; he wants the real thing. Dr. Who is a mature 5 year old grey tabby who very much enjoys getting his head rubbed. Animal Control found this confident boy on the street, but he is very social and acts as if he has had a caring companion in the past. Dr. Who is going to be neutered soon so that he no longer contributes to the number of unplanned cats roaming our streets. Dr. Who needs a Who Family. Who do you know that would be the right who for Dr. Who?
Willy (ID #4314985) is such a gentleman. He is very easy going and docile and still enjoys getting some scratches and petting. Willy was surrendered as too much responsibility, and they did have him previously neutered. He is now 10 years old and still wants to be a quiet loving companion to someone special.
Poor Sasha (ID #2784860), she was returned recently because of allergies after being adopted in January. Sasha is such a captivating sweetie. She is calm and loving, but will roll over and be so cute to acquire your attention. She is just 2 years old, a black and orange tortoiseshell. Since she is already spayed, she can go home with her new best friend today. You’re gonna love her!
“Just what do you want me to do with this?” Sherbert (ID #4231744) has no interest in fake fish to play with; maybe the real thing would grab his attention. Since coming to the shelter, via Animal Control, Sherbert has had all his vaccinations and been neutered. He is calm and quiet in his kennel but would love to have a permanent adoring companion to call his own. A little Sherbert is very nice in the summertime!
Zoe (ID #664040) was adopted from this shelter 3 ½ years ago as a tiny kitten, but recently returned due to developing allergies. Zoe is very curious and alert to all that is going on outside of her kennel. She is a lovely tuxedo black and white with 4 white paws and she will no longer have any concerns for future kittens as soon as she is spayed. She misses having a home to call her own complete with her very own caregiver. Can you correct this for Zoe?
